McDonald’s introduced all-day breakfast across its U.S. restaurants in 2015.
The national rollout began on October 6, 2015, after regional tests showed strong customer interest in ordering breakfast items beyond the traditional morning period. The launch initially focused on selected breakfast products rather than every item on the breakfast menu.
All-day breakfast changed the way McDonald’s restaurants scheduled kitchen equipment, prepared food, and managed menus. Franchisees also had to adapt operations because breakfast and regular menu items often competed for cooking and preparation capacity.
The idea was not entirely new to the company: individual restaurants and some markets had offered extended breakfast hours before the national U.S. rollout. The key milestone was the 2015 nationwide U.S. launch, which turned a local or regional practice into a major chain-wide offering.
