Fyodor Dostoevsky married Anna Snitkina, his second wife, in 1867.
Anna Snitkina was a professional stenographer who worked with Dostoevsky while he dictated The Gambler in 1866. Their collaboration helped him meet a demanding publishing deadline, and they married the following year.
After the marriage, Anna became an important practical and professional partner. She helped manage finances, publishing arrangements, and the household, while Dostoevsky continued writing major works including The Idiot, Demons, and The Brothers Karamazov.
The marriage date is sometimes confused with Dostoevsky’s first marriage to Maria Isaeva, which took place in 1857. Anna was his second wife and remained with him until his death in 1881.
