In what Texas city was Wingstop founded in 1994?

The story behind the answer

Wingstop was founded in Garland, Texas, in 1994.

The chain was established by Antonio Swad and Bernadette Fiaschetti in Garland, a city in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Its early identity centered on chicken wings and a distinctive aviation theme inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, the era before jet travel became dominant.

Wingstop did not begin as a nationwide chain. The company’s first franchised location opened in 1997, allowing the brand to expand beyond its original Texas base through franchising. That model became central to Wingstop’s growth and later international expansion.

Garland is sometimes confused with Dallas because Wingstop has long been associated with the broader Dallas area and is headquartered nearby. The founding city, however, is specifically Garland. The company later moved its headquarters within the Dallas area, but that did not change where the restaurant chain began.
