In what season did the character Little Ricky first appear?

The story behind the answer

In what season did the character Little Ricky first appear? Little Ricky first appeared in season 2.

Lucy discovers that she is pregnant during the second season, in the episode “Lucy Is Enceinte.” Her son, Ricky Ricardo Jr., is born in “Lucy Goes to the Hospital,” which aired on January 19, 1953. The character is usually called Little Ricky throughout the series.

The storyline was a major television event because the fictional birth was coordinated with Lucille Ball’s real-life pregnancy. Little Ricky’s birth was also notable for depicting a married couple having a baby in a continuing sitcom story rather than treating pregnancy as a brief, disconnected plot.

Viewers sometimes confuse the season of his birth with the season when he became a more visible child character. Several actors portrayed Little Ricky as he aged, and Keith Thibodeaux later became the best-known performer in the role. The character therefore appeared in season 2, even though his presence and age changed substantially in later seasons.
