In what Ohio city was Orville Wright born in 1871?
Answer
Dayton
Answer
Dayton
Orville Wright was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1871.
Orville was born on August 19, 1871, as the sixth child of Milton Wright and Susan Catherine Koerner Wright. Dayton became the central home of the Wright family and the setting for the brothers’ bicycle business, workshop, printing work, and early aeronautical research.
Although the Wright brothers conducted their best-known flight tests near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and later at Huffman Prairie near Dayton, Orville’s birthplace was the Ohio city itself. Dayton’s industrial and mechanical environment also gave the brothers access to tools, materials, and practical manufacturing experience.
Wilbur, Orville’s older brother, was born in Millville, Indiana, in 1867. Their partnership began in Dayton and eventually transformed the city into one of the most important places in early aviation history.
