In what month was Operation Olympic, the planned first invasion of Japan, scheduled to begin?

The story behind the answer

Operation Olympic, the planned first phase of the invasion of Japan, was scheduled to begin in November 1945.

Olympic was part of Operation Downfall, the proposed Allied invasion of the Japanese home islands. Its objective was southern Kyushu, where Allied forces intended to establish airfields and a staging area for later operations. The plan was based on the expectation that Japan might continue fighting after the atomic bombings and the Soviet entry into the war.

The second phase, Operation Coronet, was planned for spring 1946. Coronet would have attacked the Kanto Plain near Tokyo on Honshu. These dates were planning targets, not actual battle dates, because Japan accepted surrender terms before either phase began.

A common mistake is to treat Olympic as a completed campaign. It was never launched. Japan's surrender announcement came on August 15, 1945, and the formal surrender was signed on September 2, ending the need for the planned invasion.
