In Twin Peaks, what is the name of the hotel where Dale Cooper stays?

The story behind the answer

The Great Northern Hotel is where Dale Cooper stays in Twin Peaks. The grand hotel is one of the fictional town’s principal settings and is owned by Benjamin Horne, a wealthy local businessman.

The hotel combines an imposing exterior and traditional lodge-style design with the series’ eccentric atmosphere. Cooper treats it as a comfortable base while investigating Laura Palmer’s murder, and many important conversations and discoveries take place there.

The Great Northern is also associated with the character known as the Giant, who appears to Cooper in mysterious visions. Its rooms and corridors therefore function as more than ordinary lodging: they become part of the show’s dreamlike system of clues and revelations.

The hotel should not be confused with the Double R Diner, Norma Jennings’s restaurant. Both are familiar gathering places, but the Great Northern is a hotel and the Double R is a diner. The exterior was filmed at the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, Washington.
