In Twin Peaks: The Return, which actor played Wally Brando?

The story behind the answer

In Twin Peaks: The Return, Michael Cera played Wally Brando.

Wally Brando appears in Part 4 of the 2017 revival. He is the son of Andy Brennan and Lucy Brennan, and he arrives in Twin Peaks to deliver an extended, theatrical speech outside the sheriff’s station. The scene deliberately presents Wally as a wandering young man with a romanticized view of travel, identity, and family heritage.

The character’s name is a direct reference to actor Marlon Brando, while the speech and motorcycle imagery also evoke the tradition of the rebellious screen wanderer. Michael Cera’s performance is intentionally heightened and unusual compared with his better-known comedic roles. Wally should not be confused with Wally Brackett, a minor character from another work, or with James Hurley, whose motorcycle-riding persona is part of the original series. The revival used many such brief appearances to expand the town’s younger generation.
