Pandora is the Greek myth figure represented by the character Pandora in God of War.
In God of War III, Pandora is a young character connected to the mythology of the game’s fictional version of ancient Greece. Kratos encounters her during his attempt to reach the Flame of Olympus and open Pandora’s Box. The game reworks classical figures and events into an action-adventure narrative rather than presenting a direct retelling of Hesiod.
The game’s Pandora is therefore both a mythological reference and an original character shaped for the series’ plot. Her role differs from the ancient literary tradition, where Pandora is the first woman created by the gods and the opening of the vessel releases evils into the world.
God of War III was developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2010. The game’s adaptation should not be used as evidence for details that belong only to the ancient Greek sources.
