In a January 2015 game, Klay Thompson scored 37 points in the third quarter. The Golden State Warriors guard produced the historic burst against the Sacramento Kings on January 23, 2015, at Oracle Arena. He finished the quarter perfect from the field, making all 13 of his attempts, including nine three-pointers and two free throws.
Thompson’s 37 points set the NBA record for scoring in a single quarter, surpassing the previous mark of 33 shared by George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony. The Warriors scored 41 points as a team in the quarter and turned the game into a rout, winning 126–101.
The performance is sometimes confused with Thompson’s overall point total. He scored 52 points in the game, but 37 of those came during the third quarter alone. His nine three-pointers also established a single-quarter NBA record, while his 13-for-13 shooting tied the league record for field goals made in one quarter.
