In The Terminator 2: Judgment Day, what farewell phrase does the T-800 use?

In The Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the T-800 says, “Hasta la vista, baby.”

The cyborg, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, uses the Spanish phrase shortly before destroying the T-1000, the advanced shapeshifting machine pursuing John Connor. The line follows an earlier scene in which John teaches the T-800 slang and encourages it to sound more human. That setup gives the later delivery both comic timing and narrative payoff.

“Hasta la vista” literally means “until the sight” and is commonly understood in English as “see you later.” Adding “baby” makes the phrase sound deliberately stylized rather than like a formal Spanish farewell. Schwarzenegger’s accent and the scene’s action made the quotation one of the movie’s signature moments.
