In 'The Talisman', what is the name of the parallel world?

The story behind the answer

In “The Talisman,” the parallel world is called the Territories. Stephen King and Peter Straub’s 1984 novel follows twelve-year-old Jack Sawyer, who travels between modern America and this strange parallel realm while searching for a magical talisman that can save his dying mother.

The Territories mirror parts of the ordinary world, but their geography, societies, and inhabitants differ. Many people have counterparts called “twinners” in the other world. Jack can “flip” between realities, and he eventually becomes unusually capable of moving between them because of his special status as a “single-natured” person.

The Territories are ruled by Queen Laura, whose counterpart in America is Jack’s mother, Lily Cavanaugh. The eastern region is densely settled and feudal, while the central area contains agricultural Outposts. Farther west lie the Blasted Lands, a devastated radioactive region filled with dangerous creatures and mutants.

Readers sometimes confuse the Territories with Mid-World, another parallel realm from King’s connected Dark Tower mythology. The names are related to King’s wider multiverse, but they are distinct settings.
