In the standard Monopoly board game, the highest possible street rent is $2,000.
That amount is charged for Boardwalk when it has a hotel and the owner also controls the complete dark-blue group. Boardwalk is the most expensive street on the classic board, and its hotel rent is the largest listed rent for any street property.
The maximum applies only after substantial investment. The owner must acquire both Boardwalk and Park Place, build evenly through the required house stages, and then replace the four houses on Boardwalk with a hotel. Without improvements, Boardwalk’s rent is far lower.
The figure is often confused with the cost of buying Boardwalk or the cost of constructing improvements. Purchase price, building cost, and rent are separate entries on the property deed. House rules, bonus money, and editions with altered boards can change play, but $2,000 is the standard hotel rent for Boardwalk.
