In the standard Monopoly board game, rolling doubles three times in one turn sends a player to Jail.
A player normally rolls two dice and moves the total shown. When the dice show doubles, the player moves and then rolls again. This extra-roll rule continues after each pair of doubles, but it ends immediately if the player rolls doubles for a third consecutive time.
The player does not complete the movement associated with a third double. Instead, the token is moved directly to the Jail space, and the player’s turn ends. This rule is distinct from landing on the Go to Jail space, drawing a card that orders a move to Jail, or being sent there by another game effect.
The rule makes repeated doubles valuable but risky. Doubles can provide extra movement, yet three in succession produces the same destination regardless of the roll’s numerical total.
