In the Pandora myth, which Titan’s theft of fire led Zeus to create Pandora?

The story behind the answer

Prometheus’s theft of fire led Zeus to create Pandora in the standard Greek myth.

Prometheus was a Titan associated with forethought and humanity. In Hesiod’s account, he deceived Zeus during a sacrifice and later stole fire for humans, prompting Zeus to devise a punishment that affected both Prometheus and humanity.

Pandora became the human-world component of that punishment. Prometheus himself received a separate torment: Zeus had him bound, while an eagle repeatedly ate his liver. These connected episodes explain why Pandora’s story is often discussed alongside the Prometheus myth.

Prometheus is sometimes confused with Hephaestus because Hephaestus is involved in Pandora’s creation. Hephaestus shaped her from earth, but Prometheus was the Titan whose theft of fire triggered Zeus’s response.
