In the original Twin Peaks series, which actor played FBI forensic specialist Albert Rosenfield?

The story behind the answer

Miguel Ferrer played FBI forensic specialist Albert Rosenfield in the original Twin Peaks series.

Albert Rosenfield is introduced as a blunt, highly skilled forensic examiner assisting Dale Cooper with Laura Palmer’s murder investigation. His abrasive manner frequently causes friction with the Twin Peaks sheriff’s department, especially during early encounters with local officers.

Ferrer’s performance made Rosenfield memorable because the character combines technical expertise with an unsympathetic attitude. Although Rosenfield often appears hostile, later episodes reveal more compassion and moral complexity than his first appearances suggest.

Miguel Ferrer returned as Rosenfield in Twin Peaks: The Return, the 2017 continuation. He died in January 2017, before the revival aired, and the series acknowledged his death through Rosenfield’s storyline. Ferrer also had notable roles in RoboCop, Traffic, and the television series NCIS: Los Angeles.
