In the original God of War, which Greek god gives Kratos the Blades of Chaos?

The story behind the answer

In the original God of War, Ares gives Kratos the Blades of Chaos.

The blades are chained weapons forged in the Underworld and bound to Kratos's arms after Ares selects him as a servant. Kratos uses them during his campaigns as a Spartan warrior, including the conquest that leads to the death of his family.

Ares is the Greek god of war and the central antagonist of the 2005 game. Kratos eventually turns against him after Athena offers a chance to end Ares's destruction of Athens.

Players sometimes confuse the Blades of Chaos with the Blades of Athena, which replace them later in the Greek-era storyline. The weapon's chained design became one of the most recognizable symbols of the God of War series.
