In "The Office," Michael describes Chili’s as "the new golf course."
The line appears in Season 2, Episode 7, "The Client," when Michael Scott changes the location of a business meeting with Christian, a potential client. He argues that Chili’s is an ideal place to conduct business, comparing its social role to that of a golf course.
The restaurant becomes central to the episode: Michael and Jan meet the client there, Michael behaves enthusiastically and unprofessionally, and Jan worries about the impression he is making. The episode also helped establish Chili’s as one of the show’s most memorable real-world brand locations.
A common mix-up is confusing this line with the chain’s later appearance in "The Dundies," another Season 2 episode. In "The Client," however, Chili’s is specifically the restaurant Michael calls "the new golf course."
