In the manga series Pandora Hearts, who created and illustrated the series?

The story behind the answer

Jun Mochizuki created and illustrated the manga series Pandora Hearts.

Pandora Hearts is a Japanese fantasy manga written and illustrated by Mochizuki. Square Enix serialized it in Monthly Gangan Fantasy from 2006 to 2015, and the chapters were collected in 24 tankōbon volumes. The story follows Oz Vessalius, a noble heir condemned to the Abyss, and his connection with the mysterious Chain called Alice.

The series borrows names and motifs from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as well as from the Pandora myth, but it is an original fantasy narrative. Its title is not a direct retelling of Hesiod’s story. Mochizuki’s work is known for combining gothic atmosphere, intricate mysteries, and shifting revelations about identity and memory. An anime television adaptation aired in 2009, though it covers only part of the manga’s complete storyline.
