In the manga Pandora Hearts, who is the author and illustrator?

The story behind the answer

Jun Mochizuki is the author and illustrator of the manga Pandora Hearts.

Pandora Hearts was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine from 2006 to 2015. Mochizuki created both its story and artwork, building a dark fantasy world influenced by Lewis Carroll’s Alice books and by the symbolism of the Pandora myth.

The series follows Oz Vessalius, a teenager whose coming-of-age ceremony is interrupted when he is condemned to the Abyss. Its plot involves contracts, mysterious creatures called Chains, and the organization known as Pandora. Although the title points toward Greek mythology, the manga is not a retelling of Hesiod’s story.

A television anime adaptation aired in 2009. The manga and anime share characters and setting, but the anime concludes before the manga’s complete storyline and therefore should not be treated as a full substitute for the original series.
