In the manga Pandora Hearts, what is the name of the story’s main protagonist?

Oz Vessalius is the main protagonist of the manga Pandora Hearts. Created by Jun Mochizuki, the series follows Oz after he is condemned to the Abyss during his fifteenth-birthday ceremony and later forms a contract with the Chain called Alice, also known as the B-Rabbit.

The series uses the imagery and character names of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland while also drawing on the idea of a mysterious Pandora-like organization. Its title does not make the manga a direct retelling of Hesiod’s myth. Instead, Pandora Hearts develops its own fantasy world involving contracts, altered memories, political families, and the Abyss.

Oz is sometimes confused with Gilbert or Break because those characters are central allies, but neither is the protagonist. Gilbert Nightray is Oz’s devoted servant and friend, while Xerxes Break is a powerful member of Pandora. Oz’s full name is Oz Vessalius.
