In the Library of Apollodorus, what is the name of Pandora’s daughter?

The story behind the answer

In the Library of Apollodorus, Pandora’s daughter is named Pyrrha.

Pyrrha is described as the daughter of Epimetheus and Pandora. She later becomes the wife of Deucalion, the son of Prometheus. In the flood story, Zeus destroys much of humanity, while Deucalion and Pyrrha survive by taking refuge in a chest or ark-like vessel.

After the flood, the couple consults the goddess Themis about restoring humankind. They interpret her instruction to throw the “bones of their mother” behind them as a reference to stones from Earth, their common mother. Stones thrown by Deucalion become men, and stones thrown by Pyrrha become women.

Hesiod’s surviving accounts focus on Pandora’s creation and the jar, while the genealogy linking Pandora to Pyrrha is preserved in later mythographic tradition. This is why Pyrrha is not usually found in short retellings of Pandora’s story.
