In the Greek myth of Pandora’s Box, which messenger god brought Pandora to Epimetheus?

The story behind the answer

In the Greek myth of Pandora’s Box, Hermes brought Pandora to Epimetheus.

After the gods created and adorned Pandora, Zeus sent Hermes to deliver her to Epimetheus, Prometheus’s brother. Hermes’s role reflects his status as the divine messenger and intermediary who carries Zeus’s command from the gods to the mortal world.

Prometheus had warned Epimetheus not to accept gifts from Zeus. Epimetheus ignored that warning when he welcomed Pandora, and she became his wife. The story thus links two related failures: Epimetheus accepts the seemingly attractive gift, and Pandora later opens the container associated with human suffering.

Hermes is also involved in shaping Pandora’s character, since Hesiod connects him with deceptive speech and a deceitful mind. He is therefore both the courier of Zeus’s plan and one of the gods who equips Pandora for it.
