In the Greek myth of Pandora, who was her husband?
Answer
Epimetheus
Answer
Epimetheus
In the Greek myth of Pandora, her husband was Epimetheus.
Epimetheus was a Titan and the brother of Prometheus. His name is commonly interpreted as “afterthought,” contrasting with Prometheus, whose name is associated with forethought. Zeus sends Pandora to Epimetheus, and despite the danger connected with the divine gift, Epimetheus accepts her.
The marriage is central to the myth’s structure because it places Pandora’s container in a household setting. Epimetheus is not usually described as opening the vessel himself; Pandora opens it, releasing the troubles stored inside. Modern summaries sometimes make Pandora and Epimetheus ordinary human figures, but Hesiod places them among a mythic generation linked to the Titans and the gods.
