In the Greek myth of Pandora, Athena taught her weaving and other crafts.
Pandora is presented as an intentionally assembled figure whose qualities come from multiple gods. Hephaestus forms her from earth, while Athena gives her knowledge of crafts. This contributes to the image of Pandora as an idealized woman whose appearance and abilities are also part of Zeus’s plan.
Aphrodite has a different role: she gives Pandora beauty and desire. Hermes supplies deceptive qualities and speech, and the Graces and Horae provide adornment. Ancient versions and modern translations do not always list every gift in exactly the same way, but Athena’s association with crafts is a recurring detail in summaries of Hesiod’s account.
