In 'The Grave,' which dead outlaw's grave does Conny Miller visit?

In “The Grave,” Conny Miller visits the grave of the dead outlaw Pinto Sykes. Miller is a gunfighter hired to track Sykes, but he arrives in town only after the townspeople have ambushed and killed the outlaw themselves.

The townsmen tell Miller that Sykes accused him of cowardice before dying and threatened to reach up from the grave if Miller ever came near it. They then bet Miller $20 that he will not visit the cemetery and drive a knife into Sykes’s grave as proof of his courage. Miller accepts, despite insisting that he is not afraid.

At midnight, he plants the knife, but something appears to pull him down. The next day, the townsmen find him dead, with his coat pinned to the grave. One explanation is that wind caught the coat and frightened him; Ione Sykes demonstrates that the wind direction makes that theory doubtful.
