In the film New Year's Eve, which actor plays police officer Randy?

Ashton Kutcher plays police officer Randy in the 2011 film New Year's Eve.

Directed by Garry Marshall, New Year's Eve is a romantic comedy with several interlocking stories set in New York City on December 31. Kutcher's character, Randy, is a disgruntled comic-book illustrator whose plans change when he becomes involved with a neighbor during the city's celebrations.

The ensemble cast includes Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Zac Efron. Because many well-known performers appear in the film, supporting characters are easy to mix up.

The movie was released in December 2011 and follows the same multi-story format as Marshall's earlier holiday ensemble film Valentine's Day. Its title refers to the setting and theme, not to a documentary about the real Times Square event.
