In the film Avatar, Pandora’s global biological network is called Eywa.
Eywa is understood by the Na’vi as a guiding, sacred presence linking the living systems of Pandora. The film depicts trees, animals, and Na’vi forming physical and neural connections, suggesting that the moon’s biosphere functions as an interconnected whole.
Eywa is not the name of Pandora’s atmosphere, mineral, or ruling government. Polyphemus is the gas giant around which Pandora orbits, unobtanium is a mineral sought by humans, and a toruk is a large flying creature.
The idea supports the film’s ecological themes. Human mining treats Pandora as a resource, while Na’vi traditions treat its living systems as relatives and participants in a shared world. The name therefore identifies both a spiritual concept and the networked biological order shown in the story.
