Our Town is introduced in the two-part season-five premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The map in Twilight Sparkle’s castle sends Twilight and her friends to the remote settlement, where every resident displays the same black equals-sign mark instead of an individual cutie mark.
The village is controlled by Starlight Glimmer, who claims that removing personal talents and differences creates perfect equality. In reality, she has taken the ponies’ cutie marks and stored them in a vault. The story eventually reveals that individuality and special talents are not the enemies of friendship.
The title can cause confusion because “The Cutie Map” is the episode name, while “In Our Town” is the song performed by the villagers. Our Town is the commonly used name for the settlement; it is not Ponyville, Manehattan, or Fillydelphia.
