In “The Dealership,” George tries to identify a Twix candy bar in a lineup.
George first buys a Twix from a vending machine, but the bar becomes stuck after his crumpled dollar is rejected and he gathers change from beneath the machine. When he later sees a mechanic eating the candy, the mechanic insists it was a 5th Avenue bar rather than a Twix. George becomes obsessed with proving him wrong.
He arranges a lineup of ten candy bars at the dealership and asks people to identify them. The scheme collapses when dealership employees eat the samples and guess incorrectly. George then reveals that every bar in the lineup was actually a Twix, making the test useless but perfectly consistent with his fixation.
“The Dealership” aired on January 8, 1998, as season 9’s 11th episode. The story also features Jerry negotiating for a car, Kramer testing a vehicle until it runs out of gas, and Elaine’s relationship with David Puddy. The 5th Avenue comparison is the episode’s central candy mix-up.
