In the classic Monopoly board game, which railroad is the first one clockwise after GO?
Answer
Reading Railroad
Answer
Reading Railroad
In the classic Monopoly board game, Reading Railroad is the first railroad clockwise after GO.
It appears on the first side of the board, between Income Tax and Oriental Avenue. The classic board contains four railroad spaces: Reading Railroad, Pennsylvania Railroad, B&O Railroad, and Short Line. Their names reflect real or historically styled rail transportation, although the game’s railroad group is part of a fictional property system.
Railroad rent depends on how many railroads the same player owns. Owning one produces the lowest listed rent, while owning all four produces the highest railroad rent. Railroads cannot receive houses or hotels, and their title deeds use a separate rent schedule from street properties.
Reading Railroad is often called “Reading Railroad,” even though the real company’s historical name is associated with the Reading Company. The classic game uses the shorter printed form.
