In the classic Monopoly board game, what is the official rule for money placed on Free Parking?

The story behind the answer

In the classic Monopoly board game, the official rule places no money on Free Parking.

Free Parking is a corner space with no purchase price, rent, card instruction, or cash award. A player landing there simply rests on the space. Money paid to the bank for taxes, cards, or other charges remains with the bank; it does not accumulate on Free Parking under the standard rules.

Many families use a house rule that places fines in the center of the board and awards the pile to the next player who lands on Free Parking. That rule is popular and is often included in informal play, but it is not part of the official classic rules. It can also lengthen games by injecting extra cash into the economy.

Free Parking is therefore different from a jackpot space. Its role is mainly to provide a neutral corner in the board’s movement loop, alongside GO, Jail, and Go to Jail.
