In the classic Monopoly board game, what color property group contains Boardwalk and Park Place?

The story behind the answer

In the classic Monopoly board game, Boardwalk and Park Place form the dark blue property group.

These two properties are the final purchasable spaces before the board’s GO corner when moving clockwise from the Jail corner. They are also the board’s only dark blue properties, making the group distinctive because most other color groups contain three properties.

Boardwalk is widely remembered as Monopoly’s most expensive property, while Park Place is the second-most expensive. Their high purchase prices and rents make completing the group especially valuable, although building hotels requires substantial additional money.

Some editions and regional versions use different names, currencies, or artwork, but the classic American board uses the dark blue classification. This group should not be confused with the green group, which contains Pacific Avenue, North Carolina Avenue, and Pennsylvania Avenue.
