The classic Monopoly board game has three Chance spaces.
Chance is one of the two card-drawing spaces in Monopoly; the other is Community Chest. The three Chance spaces are distributed around the board rather than grouped together. When a player lands on one, they draw the top card from the Chance deck and follow its instruction.
Chance cards can move a token to named spaces, send it to Jail, award money, or require payment. The exact wording and artwork can vary between editions, but the standard American board retains three Chance spaces. This is separate from the number of cards in the deck: a standard Chance deck contains 16 cards.
A common mix-up is counting the card decks instead of the board spaces. Monopoly has three Chance spaces and three Community Chest spaces, giving players six card-drawing locations in total.
