Answer
A robbers’ house
In the Brothers Grimm tale “The Musicians of Bremen,” the four animals spend the night in a robbers’ house.
An old donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster leave their former homes after becoming less useful to their owners. They plan to travel to Bremen and work as musicians, but they do not actually reach the city in the Grimm story. During the journey, they see a house occupied by robbers.
The animals combine their voices and leap onto one another to frighten the robbers away. After entering the house, they eat the food the robbers left behind and settle there. When the robbers later return, the animals attack them again, convincing them that the house is haunted or occupied by terrifying creatures.
The story’s title refers to the animals’ intended destination, not the place where they finally live. This is why “Bremen” and the robbers’ house are both important locations but have different roles.
