In the ancient Greek myth, Zeus ordered the creation of Pandora.
Hesiod presents Pandora as part of Zeus’s response to Prometheus’s theft of fire. After Prometheus helped humanity, Zeus instructed the gods to create a woman whose arrival would bring a new burden to mortals. Different gods supplied particular qualities, while Hephaestus is associated with shaping her body.
Pandora was then sent to Epimetheus, Prometheus’s brother. Despite Prometheus’s warning, Epimetheus accepted her. The story continues with the opening of the sealed container and the release of harmful forces into the world.
Zeus is the ruler of the Olympian gods and the authority behind the plan, but he is not the deity who physically crafts Pandora in every version. That is why answers such as Hephaestus can seem tempting. The myth distributes responsibility among several gods, while Zeus initiates the creation and controls the larger punishment.
