In the 2026 Sail250 program, which city was the final listed U.S. port of call?

The story behind the answer

Boston was the final listed U.S. port of call in the 2026 Sail250 program.

Sail250 was planned as a major gathering of tall ships associated with the United States Semiquincentennial. Its listed port sequence began in New Orleans, continued to Norfolk and Baltimore, then reached New York City before ending in Boston.

The Boston stop was scheduled for July 11–16, 2026. New York City hosted ships around July 4, making that stop especially prominent during the anniversary itself, but it was not the final port in the published itinerary.

The event drew on the history of Operation Sail, a series of maritime celebrations that has brought sailing ships into American ports for major anniversaries. The 1976 Operation Sail, held during the United States Bicentennial, is an important predecessor and explains why tall-ship gatherings are closely associated with national commemorations.
