In the 2026 America250 coin program, what theme is assigned to the special U.S. dime?

The special U.S. dime in the 2026 America250 coin program has the theme “Liberty over Tyranny.”

The semiquincentennial coinage program includes a redesigned dime alongside special quarters, a half dollar, and other anniversary issues. The dime’s design presents Liberty on the obverse and an eagle clutching arrows on the reverse. Its theme expresses a central idea associated with the American independence story: political liberty overcoming oppressive rule.

The dime’s theme should not be confused with the name of the anniversary half dollar, which is “Enduring Liberty.” Those are separate denominations with different designs and titles. The five quarters also have their own historical subjects, including the Mayflower Compact and the Gettysburg Address.

The coin program was authorized through legislation that allowed special circulating designs for 2026. That makes the dime part of the official numismatic commemoration rather than merely a privately issued souvenir. Its wording is therefore a precise program designation, not a general slogan for the entire America250 celebration.
