In the 2016 South Korean disaster film Pandora, Kim Nam-gil played Jae-hyeok. Directed by Park Jung-woo, the film follows workers and residents confronting a catastrophic accident at a nuclear power plant.
The film uses the name Pandora as a metaphor for a sealed danger whose release produces consequences that cannot easily be contained. Its story focuses on emergency response, sacrifice, public responsibility, and the human cost of a nuclear disaster rather than on the ancient Greek characters.
Pandora was released in South Korea in December 2016. Its title can cause confusion with the 1951 film Pandora and the Flying Dutchman and with the mythological jar, but these are separate works with different plots and creators.
