In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, most of the story takes place on Elpis, the moon of Pandora.
The game is set between Borderlands and Borderlands 2 and follows characters working with Handsome Jack before his rise to power. Its setting expands the series beyond Pandora itself by placing the action on Elpis, where low gravity and a lack of atmosphere shape movement and combat.
Elpis is not the planet Pandora. Pandora is the main world associated with the Borderlands series, while Elpis is its moon. This distinction is a frequent source of confusion because the game’s title and wider story remain closely tied to Pandora.
