In the 2012 film Prometheus, which starship carries the expedition to LV-223?

In the 2012 film Prometheus, the expedition to LV-223 travels aboard the USCSS Prometheus.

The spacecraft carries scientists, engineers, and corporate personnel on a mission funded by the Weyland Corporation. The crew follows star maps found in ancient human cultures and lands on LV-223, a moon in the Zeta Reticuli system.

Prometheus uses its ship name as a mythological reference. In Greek mythology, Prometheus stole fire from the gods for humanity, and the film connects that idea with the search for humanity’s creators. The film is set before the events of Alien.

The ship is distinct from the Nostromo, which appears in Alien, and the Covenant, which belongs to Alien: Covenant. All three names are associated with different stories and crews within the franchise.
