Pandora is the planet where the story of the 2011 game Borderlands takes place.
The game is a first-person shooter with role-playing elements developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. Players choose among four Vault Hunters who travel across Pandora while searching for a legendary alien Vault.
Pandora is depicted as a lawless frontier world with deserts, settlements, corporations, bandits, and alien creatures. Its setting mixes science fiction with dark humor and loot-driven gameplay.
The game-world name is shared with the mythological figure and with several later fictional uses of Pandora. Borderlands also introduces other planets in its broader series, including Promethea and Eden-6, but the original game's central planet is Pandora.
