In the 2009 film The Box, which actress plays Norma Lewis?

In the 2009 film The Box, Cameron Diaz plays Norma Lewis. Norma is a schoolteacher whose family receives a mysterious box containing a button and a disturbing moral proposition.

The film was written and directed by Richard Kelly and adapts Richard Matheson’s 1970 short story “Button, Button.” James Marsden plays Norma’s husband, Arthur Lewis, while Frank Langella portrays the disfigured stranger who delivers the device. The story expands Matheson’s compact premise into a science-fiction thriller involving surveillance, sacrifice, and an apparent test of human morality.

The film was released in 2009 and uses a setting linked to the late 1970s, giving its suburban drama a period atmosphere. Cameron Diaz is sometimes associated mainly with comedies and romantic films, but The Box was one of her darker dramatic and science-fiction roles.
