In James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar, the Na’vi are the intelligent humanoid species native to Pandora. They are tall, blue-skinned beings who live in clans across the moon’s forests and other environments.
The film follows Jake Sully, a human former Marine who operates a genetically engineered avatar body designed to resemble the Na’vi. Through that body, he interacts with the Omaticaya clan and becomes involved in the conflict over Pandora’s natural resources.
Pandora is not a planet in Avatar; it is a moon orbiting the fictional gas giant Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri star system. The film’s invented biology, language, and culture were developed to make the moon feel like a complete living world.
