Thalía played Maricruz in the 1987 Mexican telenovela Quinceañera.
The series starred Thalía alongside Adela Noriega and was produced by Televisa. Its title invokes the fifteenth-birthday tradition, while its plot follows teenage characters dealing with friendship, romance, family conflict, and social expectations.
Thalía was already an actress and singer, but her later international music career made the series especially notable in retrospect. She went on to release major Latin pop hits and to star in other successful telenovelas, including María la del Barrio.
This television production is not the same work as the 2006 film Quinceañera, which stars Emily Rios and was directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland. Matching the year and medium prevents those two identically titled works from being confused.
