Answer
Sissy Spacek
Answer
Sissy Spacek
Sissy Spacek played the title character in the 1976 horror film Carrie.
Carrie White is a shy high-school student who develops telekinetic powers while facing bullying and religious abuse at home. Spacek’s performance made the character’s isolation, fear, and eventual loss of control the emotional center of Brian De Palma’s adaptation.
The film was based on Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel, also titled Carrie. It was one of the earliest major screen adaptations of King’s work and helped establish him as a source of commercially successful horror stories. The prom sequence became one of the genre’s most recognizable scenes.
Piper Laurie played Carrie’s mother, Margaret White, and Amy Irving played Sue Snell, a sympathetic classmate. Nancy Allen portrayed Chris Hargensen, one of Carrie’s principal tormentors. These supporting performances are sometimes confused with Spacek’s title role.
