In the 1967 crime film Point Blank, which actor plays the protagonist Walker?

The story behind the answer

Lee Marvin plays Walker in the 1967 crime film Point Blank.

Directed by John Boorman, Point Blank follows Walker, a criminal seeking revenge after his partner betrays him and steals his share of a robbery. Marvin’s performance gives the character a controlled, intimidating presence as he moves through the criminal underworld of Los Angeles.

The film was adapted from Donald E. Westlake’s 1963 novel The Hunter, published under the name Richard Stark. Its fragmented chronology, stark locations, and stylized violence distinguish it from more conventional revenge thrillers of the period.

Angie Dickinson plays Chris, Walker’s estranged wife, while John Vernon portrays Mal Reese, the former partner whose betrayal drives the plot. Point Blank is sometimes confused with later films based on the same source material, including Payback, released in 1999 and starring Mel Gibson. Those films share the basic revenge premise but feature different versions of the protagonist.
