In Taylor Swift's “august” love-triangle storyline, which two Folklore songs provide the other viewpoints?
Answer
“Cardigan” and “Betty”
“Cardigan” and “Betty” provide the other viewpoints in Taylor Swift's “august” love-triangle storyline.
The three songs form a connected narrative on Folklore. “august” follows an unnamed girl involved with James during a summer romance. “Cardigan” presents Betty's perspective, while “Betty” is told from James's perspective.
The songs are not a literal account of Swift's own relationship history. Swift described the characters and story arcs as fictional, using imagined perspectives to explore memory, regret, youthful mistakes, and unequal feelings. The songs' shared characters helped fans identify the trilogy, even though their tracks are separated across the album.
