In Suzanne Collins’s young-adult novel The Hunger Games, who is the author?

Suzanne Collins is the author of the young-adult novel The Hunger Games.

The novel was published by Scholastic in 2008 and begins the trilogy about Katniss Everdeen, a teenager forced to compete in a televised death match. Collins drew on ideas from Greek mythology, Roman gladiatorial combat, and modern reality television when developing Panem and its Games.

The Hunger Games is often confused with its film adaptation, which premiered in 2012 and starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. Collins also wrote Catching Fire and Mockingjay, the second and third novels in the original trilogy, followed by the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
