In Stephen King’s novel Pet Sematary, the physician who moves to Ludlow is Louis Creed.
Louis Creed is the protagonist of Pet Sematary. He relocates with his family to Ludlow, Maine, after accepting a position connected with the University of Maine. Near the family home, he discovers an old burial ground and a much more dangerous place beyond it.
The Creed family includes Louis, his wife Rachel, their children Ellie and Gage, and their cat Church. The novel’s horror develops from Louis’s medical knowledge, grief, and increasing willingness to challenge the boundary between life and death.
The title’s misspelling of “cemetery” comes from the hand-painted sign created by local children. That detail is often remembered alongside the supernatural burial ground, but it does not change the protagonist’s surname. Pet Sematary was published in 1983.
